Justin Mujica competing at Guincho

Surf coach · Lisbon area

I was European champion. Today my job is making you surf better.

I was born on Margarita Island and arrived in Portugal in 1999 with a board and no Portuguese. Now I coach across the whole Lisbon area: Costa da Caparica, the Cascais line, Praia Grande, Ericeira and Peniche. Wherever breaks best that day.

Route A · Surf coaching

I want to surf better. For anyone, at any level.

One-to-one or a small group, on video, and I tell you exactly what you are doing.

Route B · Performance

My kid wants to compete. I know what the tour demands.

Technique, contest preparation and a season plan built around the FPS calendar.

Two ways of working with me

For you, or for your kid?

The Lisbon area

Five spots, one rule

We train wherever the ocean is best that day. I check the forecast the night before and text you. I won't waste your morning on a wave that's no good.

01 Costa da Caparica HOME BASE Home of the ASCC and the beach where I won the 2022 national title.
02 Linha de Cascais NORTH WIND From Carcavelos to Guincho: a whole coastline of options, minutes from Lisbon. It handles what the ocean beaches can't.
03 Praia Grande SOLID SWELL Sintra's serious sandbar — it holds size, and the Junior Tour stops here for a reason.
04 Ericeira NW SWELL World Surfing Reserve. I won there in 2003 and 2004.
05 Peniche ALWAYS WAVES Supertubos and twenty more peaks. When nowhere else works, Peniche works.

“A very modern style of surfing, in many ways ahead of the rest of the field.”

ONFIRE Surf Mag · on his first year in Portugal, 1999

The Portuguese press has been calling me the same thing for over a decade: o antigo campeão nacional e europeu.

In May 2026 I put on a competition jersey again at Ribeira d'Ilhas, in the Quiksilver Heritage Heat, alongside João Antunes, José Gregório and Paulo Rodrigues.
